I've got a number of shows coming up. For that I'm thankful. Man, this businesses I'm in isn't about filling boxes for Facebook or Youtube. I appreciate the internets. I could even appreciate the social media platforms if I didn't see them for the exact turds they pretend not to be. Not everything fits in their little boxes. And, I don't exist to fill them (that includes Spotify).
What's real is still what's real. I play music in rooms full of people. I get to meet folks and have conversations. I form bonds, build relationships. To Hell with follower count and metrics (I do however appreciate each and every one of you -sexbots and Chinese spies excluded).
While some push toward a virtual world, I'm still looking for something real. Maybe now more than ever. Thanks to all the places who bring me in to play, and to all the folks who come out -especially those who come out to listen to me.
Here's a video from Kootenai River Brewing -credit to them (found it on their website). This is an old tune called All In. I usually play it right before the last song because it feels right there.
